Hi! I am Maya Jade Frank, an 18-year-old girl who loves her friends, family, dog, and performing. I grew up in the Big Apple (New York City) and thanks to my older sister, Tehya, I found my passion for the theater. I started performing at 6-years-old in shows such as Hurricane, Beauty & The Beast, The Secret Garden and more! When I was 9-years-old I was cast as Little Cosette in the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Tour. I traveled all over the United States; learning about different cultures, exploring historical locations in each city was the most eye-opening experience. When I returned home, EVITA on Broadway became my next adventure. Then came Mary Poppins...the most exercise I got on a stage ever!! Being on stage 24/7 challenged me in so many ways, and I learned skills I still use today.
In 2012 Hurricane Sandy struck the East Coast. I wanted to be involved in the restoration but was turned down because of my age. It was not in my nature to sit and wait for an opportunity to arrive, so I co-founded 13 Wishes: a do-good business that brings the arts to places where they are limited and non-existent as well as and raises awareness and donations for causes we believe in (including Invisible Illnesses Awareness, Anti-Bullying, and more.). Recently, I co-founded @TheYaSisters: a digital platform that highlights inspiring young adults using their unique voices to change the world.
Our most recent campaign is #MakeInvisibleVisible: A collaboration with Kids Of The Arts & Laura Luc, Dance Molinari & Janine Molinari, and The Early Night Show to raise awareness and fundraise for invisible illnesses (including but not limited to: Mental Illness/Suicide Prevention, Lyme Disease, Celiac Disease, Crohn's Disease, Cancer, Lupus, Cystic Fibrosis, and many more.) To be involved email TheYaSisters@gmail.com.
